Friday 11th January 2019

Hello everyone and Happy New Year! Welcome back to our first blog of 2019...

We hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and that the children had a good break. I would like to thank you for encouraging your children to read Oliver Twist and thank you for the returned books. I would ask that all outstanding books are returned on Monday so that we can start our English work on it.

This week we have been working on some grammar including how words can be both nouns and verbs depending on the way they are used in a sentence. We concluded our topic work on Capital Cities by looking at Tokyo and Washington DC and were really pleased with some of the work your children created.

In maths, our focus has been on multiplying and dividing decimals by 10, 100 and 1000. This can be a tricky concept, particularly when working with numbers with lots of decimal places, but as a whole, the children did well with it. Our new science topic this term is the circulatory system, which we also began this week.

Have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday xx
