Friday 11th October

Friday 11th October 2019

Welcome to this week’s blog from Year 5F. We have had a busy (and rainy) week!

Maths – This week the children have been using and applying previous learning on rounding to estimate answers to addition and subtraction problems. This helps them to have a ‘rough’ idea of their answer to a calculation before working it out.

Have a go at estimating these addition calculations at home...

English – This week the children have been exploring portal texts. This is where the main character discovers a portal that will take them to another place. Can you guess these famous portal stories from their pictures?

Topic – On Monday, the children visited Martin Mere as part of our Woodlands and Wetlands topic. They had a fabulous time, despite the rain! Here are some photographs from the day…

Science – The children have been investigating life cycles. They learned about the life cycle of a frog and then wrote and illustrated their own life cycle diagram.

Here is our certificate winner for the week. She won for a settled, sensible week! It has been wonderful to see her ready to learn, always listening and giving everything a go. Congratulations from everyone in Year 5.smileysmileysmiley

All that remains to say is have a fabulous weekend and we will see you again on Monday. Fingers crossed we don't have too much rain!

Reception class bubble required to isolate until Saturday 19th June, please refer to the letter in Covid section...
