Welcome to this week’s blog from Year 5F. We have had a busy (and rainy) week!
Maths – This week the children have been using and applying previous learning on rounding to estimate answers to addition and subtraction problems. This helps them to have a ‘rough’ idea of their answer to a calculation before working it out.
Have a go at estimating these addition calculations at home...
English – This week the children have been exploring portal texts. This is where the main character discovers a portal that will take them to another place. Can you guess these famous portal stories from their pictures?
Topic – On Monday, the children visited Martin Mere as part of our Woodlands and Wetlands topic. They had a fabulous time, despite the rain! Here are some photographs from the day…
Science – The children have been investigating life cycles. They learned about the life cycle of a frog and then wrote and illustrated their own life cycle diagram.
Here is our certificate winner for the week. She won for a settled, sensible week! It has been wonderful to see her ready to learn, always listening and giving everything a go. Congratulations from everyone in Year 5.
All that remains to say is have a fabulous weekend and we will see you again on Monday. Fingers crossed we don't have too much rain!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
