Friday 11th September
Welcome to Year 5F’s blog for this week.
Maths - This week we have continued investigating shape. We began the week by looking at the properties of 3D shapes, for example how many faces, how many vertices (corners) or how many edges? Some of us made our very own 3D shapes using nets. Also, we explored the different possible nets for cubes.
See if you can guess the 3D shape by looking at its net…
Here are some pictures from our maths lessons this week…
English - This week we have continued to look at the short animation called The Lone Robot. The children have written some amazing descriptions of the down-hearted, desolate little robot. Take a look at some of them here…
Topic – We have begun our very first topic this week called Woodlands and Wetlands. The children have produced a mind map in their books to show what they already know. The quality of their work continues to impress all their teachers.
As part of our topic we will be visiting Martin Mere Wetland Centre on Wednesday 14th October and letters have been sent home today with more details about this exciting trip.
Science - We went across to the ALPS this week to look at different habitats for living things. We discovered lots of interesting habitats whilst we were out there. Take a look at some of the pictures from our visit...
Our Certificate Winner this week is Alicia for consistently giving her all! ALWAYS ready to learn! ALWAYS listening! A true Year 5 role model. Amazingly, Alicia went on to win the Pupil of the Week trophy for the Upper Phase! WOW! We are VERY impressed!
Also, from Mrs Roche’s group Bradley W was awarded a certificate for his enthusiastic attitude during our Lone Robot topic, which resulted in some terrific descriptive writing. A big well done to both children.
We hope you all have a fantastic weekend and look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
