Friday 12th May 2017

Hello,

English

In English we have been learning about 'The Detective Dog.' We pretended that detective dog, Nell, visited our school and looked for the lost books in some of our favourite places. We wrote extended sentences using ‘and.’

Maths

In maths, we have been learning how to divide by sharing and by grouping. We have also been learning how to half and quarter an amount, a length and a capacity.

Topic

In Topic, we have been learning about Florence Nightingale.  She was a nurse who was known as the ‘Lady of the Lamp.’ She nursed the soldiers of the Crimean war better and helped to clean up the filthy, diseased hospitals. She was a heroine.

Science

In science, we have been learning about reptiles and birds.  We know that birds have feathers and wings and reptiles have scaly skin.

Keep up reading at home and bringing in your book bags to earn Westfield dollars!

Enjoy the weekend

Finally, have your say.  Each week you will have a chance to decide on which new song we will learn in next week's whole school assembly.  Click on the link below to take part in an online vote. (Note -this is carried from last week's choices.)
