Friday 14th July

Good afternoon and welcome to this week's blog. It has been another busy week in 6W once again.

Maths - This week the children have been learning how to count using Mayan maths.  What is the Mayan number system we hear you ask? The Maya used a base-20 number system with symbols that represent the values of 0, 1, 5. In this system, 0 is represented by a shell, 1 is represented by a piece of corn and 2 is represented by a line. Here are some examples...

Topic - The children have started their Maya inspired masks this week. They used Modroc which they layered over a plate. They then added features and built them up. Here are some photographs of them hard at work...

That's all for this week. We can't believe that the year is nearly over and there's only one left as Year 6W! We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 20th July at 9.30 am for the children's Leaver's Assembly.
