Welcome back to the Year 4 Blog.

This week in Maths, we have been concentrating on Statistics (or data handling).  We have had lots of fun with this.  We have used voting stations to find out what our favourite lessons are, and what are favourite snacks are.

Once we had voted, we constructed a tally chart, and then a bar chart to show the results.  Then, we answered some questions –or, interrogated the data.  Take a look at some examples of our work below.

In English, we had a go at writing some poetry.  We started by looking at a picture of the sun.  Our teacher asked us to think up describing words and phrase.  Here’s what we came up with.

A yellow trailing staircase to the heavens

A dragon’s eye burning in the sky

Streaming clouds

The burning heart of the sky

A porthole to another world

It rose as red as blood

Coppery sky

An erupting volcano

The ghost of the sun

Orange clouds that look like lava

Candyfloss clouds

Like a rising tornado

Brightly coloured pocket watch

Brightly coloured disco ball

Sand being scattered (clouds)

Clouds drifting like a desert landscape

Then we used our ideas to write a short poem about the sun.

Take a look at some examples of our poems.
