Congratulations to Mason A this week, he received the achievement award for returning to school seamlessly after a long while off.
English
This week we have written instructions for making a snowman, have a look out for them on our wow wall when we get a chance to compare them next week. Please practise signing the alphabet song (slowly!!) with your child so that they are naming each letter individually and in the right order.
Maths
We have been learning about 2d and 3d shapes this week. Please help us with this at home, we need to be able to name a cube, cuboid, pyramid, sphere and cylinder ready for year 2. As well as a triangle, square, rectangle, circle, pentagon and hexagon (remeber these are 2d shapes, so they are flat and we can't pick it up).
Topic
In topic this week we have been very busy! First we were artists and we are in the process of completing art work (using hot and cold colours) in the style of Kadinsky. We're looking forward to seeing the final result. See the photos below.
We also had a chance to show off our geography knowledge by identifying hot and cold areas of the world on the map by helping a penguin find a hot place for a holiday and helping a lion find a cold place for his holiday! We know that cold places are near the north and south poles and hot places are near a magical invisible line called the equator.
Finally this week, we had out Christmas party. This included party food, party games and lots of prizes!! We had a great time!
Just three school days left this year, we're getting very excited as it's nearly CHRISTMAS!
Have a great weekend!
Lots of love,
Miss Rose, Mrs Duckworth and Mrs Grundy
