Hello again,
In English this week, the children had their first taste of what confronts them next May when it is SATS week. The children sat a recent reading paper to begin to get a feel for the level of challenge they contain. For many (and this is usually the case), they were unsure of how to pace themselves as there is lots to do in a limited time. Next time, which won't be for a while, they will have more notion of how briskly they need to work. Despite this, there was much promise.
In maths, we have introduced the concept of fractions - one that often proves tricky. Children who have invested lots of time and effort into learning times tables find they can solve a range of fraction related problems far more efficiently than those who don't have the quick recall. So come on, earn those bands!
