Friday 16th December 2016

Well we are almost at the end of the first term and getting very excited about Christmas.

Well done to all those children who brought in their tasty offerings on Thursday for the Westfield Christmas Bake-Off. They were all amazing and looked delicious. I've never been one to say no to a cake so I bought 6!

We also enjoyed helping to make a class cake with Mrs Pickavance and Mrs Carlson and we were very proud of the final result. Yum, yum!

In English this week we have been reading and writing more about The Beatles. We are becoming quite knowledgeable about the 'Fab Four' now (so surely that makes us Fab Year Four!). We have been practising writing in paragraphs this week about John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and of course Ringo Starr (or Richard Starkey as was his real name). Did you know he was nicknamed Ringo because of all the rings he wore?

In Maths, we have been looking at Measurement, in particular area and perimeter. We now know that to find the area we can either count the squares or use an array and multiply the rows by the columns. But to find the perimeter we need to add the length of each side. We are getting the hang of it now.

In Art, we have looked at various Beatles' album covers and tried hard to recreate them. It was difficult, but we never gave up and the results were great.

Congratulations this week went to all Year 4 for their excellent behaviour during our trip to Liverpool last week. They really did represent the school well.

Next week is our last week before we finish for Christmas and we are eagerly anticipating lots of festive fun. Our Christmas party is on Tuesday afternoon and we are having a school carol singalong on Thursday.

We can't wait...
