Friday 16th June 2023

Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. What a glorious week we have had both indoors and outdoors this week. Let's have a little peek at this week's learning. We started the week off as we always do with lots of lovely invitations to come and play. We set up our continuous provision with lovely experiences for the children to explore and learn. All of these are linked to this weeks text of the week What the Ladybird Heard Next.

In our Maths work this week we have been using ladybirds to explore doubling. The children have grasped this concept really quickly. We have been asking the children to show us 1 on one hand, to double it and then work out the answer. They are getting super speedy with this. Try it out at home! smiley

We have been developing and fine tuning our fine motor skills. We have been exploring how to turn the paper and hold the scissors correctly to follow a line. We created spooty snakes in the creative area earlier in the week. Lots of perseverance required but we did really well!

As we do every week we have been out again onto the ALPS.  The children love this day of the week and the ALPS gives us the freedom to enjoy a story in a different setting as well as a super space to work together to achieve a common goal. This wee we enjoyed a story about a cheeky crocodile and found some things to create a bug hotel. More pictures to come later in the blog smiley

We have also been using the Internet to find out more about some of the creatures/characters from the text of the week.  There was so much language, conversation, learning, taking turns and helping others that cam from this one, very simple activity. smiley

So i am sure you would like to see it...... Reception W Book Hotel. Amazing isn't it? The children have such a love of creatures and are always out spotting them on the playground and on the ALPS. This way we now have our very own little area for investigation. The children are very excited yes

Next weeks text of the week is Superworm. Yet again another lovely text from Julia Donaldson. Have a little look at it over the weekend ready for Monday
