Friday 17th November

Friday 17th November

Welcome to Y5F’s blog for this week. It has been another busy week and we have been working hard.

Maths – This week in Maths the children have been exploring multiples and factors.

When you learned your times tables in school, you were learning multiples. For examples, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are multiples of 2.

Factors are numbers you can multiply together to get another number: Example: 2 and 3 are factors of 6, because 2 × 3 = 6. A number can have MANY factors! Here in Year 5F we like to call them ‘gazinters’ (a number that goes into another number).

Here is a link to help you practise and learn a little more …

English – As you are aware, last Thursday, the children went to the cinema to watch The Emoji Movie. They all thoroughly enjoyed this brightly-coloured, rollercoaster ride of a movie that explored feelings and friendship. Take a look at the official trailer by clicking on the link…

The children have been thinking about the emotions that Gene, the ‘meh’ emoji, experienced throughout the film. They have written a film review, created an emotionometer to describe how Gene was feeling and a diary entry as if they were Gene. Take a look at Evie and Maddie's fabulous diary entries...

Topic – The children have continued their topic called VALHALLA which is all about the Vikings. The children have been learning about Viking longships. They have labelled and explained what each part of the ship was used for. Some of the children created an information leaflet about longships.

Science – The children have been learning all about human gestation. They have learned about the various stages of human pregnancy and how the foetus develops in its mother’s womb.

Here is our CERTIFICATE WINNER this week. He got it for his cool, calm and collected demeanour in Year 5! (And for having a smile that brightens the classroom every day!!)

All that remains is to say thank you for your generous donations to Children in Need. The children looked amazing in their spotty outfits. We would like to wish you all a fantastic weekend and we will see you again on Monday.
