Friday 19th May

Hello and welcome to our blog for this week.

Maths - This week the children have been doing circle work. They have learned new vocabulary...

* circumference - the distance around the outside of a circle

* diameter - a straight line passing from side to side through the centre of a circle

* radius - a straight line from the centre to the circumference of a circle

* arc - a part of a curve, especially a part of the circumference of a circle

As well as this, they have used a pair of compasses to create artwork using circles and arcs. Take a look at some of their work...

English - This week the children have begun a new topic in writing. They are going to be writing a guide on how to take care of an animal (which they are going to create for themselves). They have looked at a variety of texts and collected words and phrases to include in their own guide.

This week it has been Knife Crime Awareness Week around the country. The local police came into school to give the children a talk and the opportunity to meet with them, try on uniform, sit in their car and even start the car's sirens! Here are some pictures from their time in school...

Our certificate winner this week is Jake who won for his answer to a very specific question with precise answer in Science this week. Well done Jake!!!! yesyesyes

All that remains to say is goodbye from Year 6W. We hope you have a lovely weekend and will see you again next week.
