Welcome back. We hope you had a good half term break. It's nice to see the light nights are returning, and that the weather is beginning to look a little like spring.
In English this week, we have begun to look at explanation texts. We had a little go at writing our own explanation. These can be really difficult because you obviously need to know how something works or why something happens to be able to explain it. But it was okay. Our teachers let us choose from titles like -Why Dragons Became Extinct, or How Witches Can Fly. So we were able to have a little bit of fun with it, and get down and creative.
Then our teacher showed us the `Teacher Pleaser Machine', and we began to rehearse the text. We'll post a video next week, it can be quite tricky so we need lots of practice. Here's a picture of the `Teacher Pleaser Machine'.
In Maths, we have been learning how to find fractions of amounts. It's amazing! They look really difficult to begin with, but so long as you follow the rules -they're easy. Take a look.
What is 3/5 of 25? Well, first divide the 25 by the bottom number of the fraction (denominator) then multiply by the top number (numerator). Like this , 25 divided by 5 times by 3 = 15
