Friday 21st April 2017

Welcome back to our class blog.  We hope you had a great Easter break and that you didn't eat too much chocolate.  (What's that?  Is it possible to have too much chocolate?surprise)

Well, as we have often stated -we've been busy, busy, busy this week.  Doing what?  We hear you say...Well...

In English we have been looking at Magnificent Machines by Pie Corbett.  (You might remember Pie Corbett from our work before Christmas on Dragonory.)

We started by looking at the `Tidy Your Bedroom' Machine.  Mr P had drawn what this might look like based on the explanation of how it works written by Pie.  We all agreed that it really was a `Magnificent Machine', and one that we would all really love to have.  Imagine just how tidy our bedrooms would be?  Wow!

Then, using this explanation as a scaffold, we wrote our own explanation for the `Teacher Pleaser' Machine.  Obviously, this was a favourite with our teachers. MMmm -wonder why?angel

Take a look at some of our writing below.

Maths has been great this week.  We have started to look at Measurement, and in particular Perimeter.  Perimeter is the measurement of the outside line of a shape.  Take a look at our example and then see if you can work out the perimeter of the shapes.
In Computing, we have finally started our Minecraft topic (we have been soooooo looking forward to it).  We have been working in groups to redesign our school ALPS.  What we needed to include was an ALPS classroom.  Yes, today we became `Minecraftians'...(?)...`Miners'...(?)...`Crafters'...(?).  Anyway, we had fun.  We'll post some screenshots soon.

Finally, have your say.  Each week you will have a chance to decide on which new song we will learn in next week's whole school assembly.  Click on the link below to take part in an online vote.
