Friday 21st December
Welcome to our final blog for 2018! It has been another busy week, as always.
Maths – The children have continued to multiply and divide both whole and decimal numbers by 10, 100 and 1000.
English – The children have begun to explore their new HOLIDAY READING BOOK, The Jamie Drake Equation by Christopher Edge. We have looked at the front cover, blurb and then read the first chapter and made some predictions about the book. They can now enjoy reading the book over the holidays. It will need to be back in school in the new term as they will be completing work based on it.
Science - The children have investigated the gestation period for several different mammals. They discovered that the larger the mammal the longer the gestation time or the smaller the mammal the shorter the gestation time. They then created a bar chart to show this information and answered some questions about mammal gestation time using the bar chart to help them.
Topic - The children have investigated some Viking artefacts. They had to look at them and then decide what they were made of and what they might have been used for. After making their predictions, they were then given some information to read and then check whether they had predicted correctly.
On Thursday, it was the Upper Phase Christmas Party. The children had a fabulous time. They played party games in the hall and even taught Mrs Dougherty and Miss Power how to floss! After that, they enjoyed their party food and played Pass the Parcel. It was a fun-filled day enjoyed by all. Here are a few pictures from the day…
Here is our certificate winner this week. She won for trying her best to stay focused and on task in a very busy week. Well done – we are very proud of her.
All that remains to say is have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY HEW YEAR. We will see you next year on Tuesday 8th January.
