Friday 21st September

Hello and welcome to 5W’s blog. Hope you’ve had a great week. We’ve had another busy week!

Maths

We started this week where we left off last week, with rounding. However, we were working with numbers in the tens of thousands and rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1,000 and 10,000.

We then moved on to looking at Roman Numerals.

Try the Roman Numeral game.

English

Miss Power read a few chapters of our class novel, which we are all really enjoying. Following this we looked at editing. We had to find mistakes that had been made in some sentences. This was to help with editing and redrafting our own piece of work.

We also planned and wrote a piece of writing as if we were Charlie, finding the golden ticket. We had to include fronted adverbials, a BOYS sentence, adjectives and similes.

Science

In science we looked at different habitats and how animals have adapted to the environment they live in. We looked at woodlands and wetlands and the animals that live there.

PHSE

This week we had the chance to put ourselves forward to become a school councillor. We thought about the qualities needed to be an effective school councillor and wrote a speech. On Tuesday morning, Mrs Baker came into class to hear the speeches before a vote was cast to elect our class councillors.

And the winners were……………

Miss Georgie Gilligan and Miss Chloe Melling

Congratulations and Well-Done girls!

Pupil of the week is… Darren Tymon for standing out in Maths, with a sensible attitude, good listening, which resulted in good progress. Keep it up!

Birthdays

A very happy birthday to Layla, who celebrated her birthday. Hope you had a lovely day and thanks for the sweet treats!

Well, we’ll say bye for now, have a great weekend and we’ll see you on Monday.
