Friday 22nd November 2019
Welcome to this week’s blog It has, as always, been another busy week here in Year 5F.
Maths – This week the children have continued interpreting data. They have been investigating timetables and how to read information from them. They have also been investigating time – looking at the 12-hour and 24-hour clock and how to convert between the two. This is often shown as digital (24 hour) and analogue (12 hour) clocks. This website allows you to explore time a little further…
Early in the morning,
Later that afternoon,
All of a sudden,
Finally,
Science – The children have looked at the changes that occur in old age, the final stage in human development. They have been thinking about how we keep our bodies healthy from a young age so that we can have a fit and healthy life in later years.
Topic – The children have been looking t manuscripts during Viking and Saxon times. They have researched illuminated letters (the first letter of the page in a new chapter) which are bigger and more decorated than other letters. They have then taken their initial letter in their name and illuminated it using different medium.
Here is our certificate winner for the week. He won for having a truly magnificent week! He has confidently memorised and performed our Talk for Writing story in front of the class, as well as reading at home this week. Congratulations from everyone in Year 5.
Congratulations also to our amazing PLATINUM TIMES TABLE WRISTBAND winner this week, Kiean! What an absolute super star!
All that remains to say is have a fabulous weekend and we will see you again on Monday.
