Friday 23rd May

Hello everyone,

Half term is now upon us. Who'd believe the year is nearly done?

This week, the majority of our focus has been upon producing quality pieces of independent writing for different audiences and purposes. We have drafted and edited newspaper articles, memoirs and descriptions to do with topics as diverse as stranded whales and terrible disease. Attitude to this writing has been really promising: writing is the most complex of all skills with many technicalities to get right.

In other areas, we have learned how to use a pair of compasses to draw circles. Not just any circles- intricate combinations of circles to produce stunning effects!

In topic, the children have learned how the Mayan civilization worshipped many gods that represented important aspects of life like the sun, death and birth. The children designed their own deity, describing what they could be the gods of.

Hope everyone has a great holiday break!
