This week in topic, we have completed a few lessons work on the history of Liverpool.  As you will know, in a few weeks time we will visit Liverpool when we go to The Beatles Story.  We have found our work on the history of the city fascinating.  There are some amazing facts.  So did you know for example that around 200 men from Liverpool fought for King Harold at the Battle of Hastings?  That during Victorian times the population of Liverpool went from around 160,000 to over 700,000?  Or that during the Second World War that Liverpool was the most bombed place outside of London?  Pretty amazing facts eh?

We also got to play a few related games.  You can check out the website where we researched our work here.

Take a look at some of our work below.

In Maths, we have been learning to multiply and divide by 10, 100 and 1000.  Multiplying is easy, although we found dividing a little trickier.  Here's how we did it.
So, if you are faced with 17 x 10 =, the table tells us that we move the digits one place (because we are multiplying by 10, if it was a hundred it would be 2 places, and a thousand would be 3 places).  We move the digits to the left -one place.  This would give us 170.  If we divide we move the digits to the right -making our answer smaller. So, 230 divided by 10 would be 23.  See?  Try out some examples with this online game.  Here
