On Monday we did a really great Science experiment.  We created the water cycle in a glass!  Amazing don't you think?  What we did was, we added warm water to a glass -this evaporates more quickly than cold water.  Then we covered the glass with cling film, and placed an ice cube on top.  Take a look at the photos.

What happens is this...the warm water evaporates (changes to a gas) and rises in the glass.  It touches the cool surface of the cling film (the cold surface is made by the ice cube).  When the water vapour touches the cool surface it turns back to being a liquid (condensation).  When there is enough liquid on the surface it drops back to the water below (precipitation -or rain).  So yes, we created rain in a glass -how cool are we?laugh

In Maths this week, we tried out a new times table test set up by the Government.  Next year all Year 4 children will need to take the test.  This year, lots of Year 4 classes have been trialling it.  We will take the test in June, but in the meantime why not try out similar test here.

Have a great half term, we'll see you in June.
