It's been a freezing week at Westfield this week although the weather can't seem to make its mind up.
In English, we have researched author, Jacqueline Wilson as we are studying her novel, Hetty Feather. It is the tale of a Victorian girl whose mother left her to be looked after by the Foundling Hospital. It is based on the truth: sadly in those times many mothers were simply too desperate or destitute to look after their children, who were often illegitimate, which was frowned upon severely. This hospital would teach them the skills of going into service or the military when they were 13 or 14.
In maths we are calculating percentages. This may just help us in the last days of the January sales.
