Friday 25th January 2019

This week's star of the week was awarded to Manatsa for being a mthemajician! He has been working really hard on solving tricky problems this week.

In Maths this week, we have been continuing our work on place value to 20.  We have been ordering numbers in order from smallest to largest and largest to smallest.  We have also been solving number problems to do with comparing numbers.

In English, we have been continuing our work on the story - The Way Back Home- by Oliver Jeffers.  This week we designed our own alien.  We used 2D shapes to design our alien and used our adjectives to describe the alien we have made.  We have made a guessing game and written clues so we can read and guess the alien next week.

In Science, we are learning about materials.  We have been testing materials to see if they are elastic.  We have been using the words stretchy and stiff and sorting materials into groups.  We learnt that a stretchy material would be best for our space suit design, so that our astronaut can move around.

In topic, we have been learning about Space travel.  We have been ordering the people and animals in the order they visited space and have put them on a timeline.

Mrs Houghton visited our class this week to see how the boys and girls were getting on with their writing.  She was really impressed with the progress they have made, as am I everyday! They worked so hard to show off their writing skills and were an absolute credit!

Have a lovely weekend.
