Friday 25th November 2016

Hello again...welcome back.  Another busy week here in Year Four.

In English on Tuesday, we wrote our own versions of a Dragonory story from the book we have been reading.  Wow, what a real range of sentence types, punctuation and vocabulary we used.  Our teachers were so impressed with our independent writing they've given us this weekend off! Hey, we always get the weekend off! Mmmmm??  Our stories covered a real range of the ones that we looked at in the book, but all had our own little twist.

In Maths, we moved on our learning from last week when we were multiplying a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number using the short method.  This week we moved on to multiplying 3 digit numbers by a 1 digit number. You know, to begin with, this really confused us.  By the end of the week though we could see that it was just as easy.  In fact, we were multiplying 3 digit by 1 digit like Professors of Multiplying, when they had just received an award in Multiplying from the University of Multiplication for their multiplying skills. surprise

Why don't you give some a go.  Answers as always, upside down at the bottom of our blog.

On Friday afternoon, in break from learning Mr P showed us an amazing clip from the new BBC 1 series Planet Earth II.  Some of us had seen it before, some of us hadn't.  All of us agreed it was amazing.  Take a look...All of us cheered at one particular point, we wonder whether you will?

Iguana vs Snakes - Planet Earth II

This behaviour has never been filmed before! Hatchling marine iguanas are attacked by snakes hunting on mass. This clip was taken from the Islands episode of Planet Earth II.

Planet Earth II is aired on Sunday at 8pm.  This week's episode is all about Deserts and should be great!
Finally, in topic this week, we looked at children's TV shows from the 20th century.  We were amazed at how they have changed.  We had to guess at the decade that each was from and say how they were similar and different.  Maybe you could have a go too.  First watch this video of the clips, then click on the link below to take our quiz.
