Welcome back to Y6F

The class has been super busy this week with their very first Talk for Writing task of the year. This is a scheme that aims to provide firm building blocks for writing by taking and learning a story before innovating it by creating a parallel version. The story we learned was called The Gas Mask. A young lad finds a gas mask in his gran's dusty, old spare room that transports him back to a bombed street in war time.

As a result of our study, we have characters that have been transported to battlefields, characters that have been transported to aircraft hangars and characters who have been transported to air raid shelters. Attitude has been good despite the challenging nature of writing.

In maths we have worked on securing and extending knowledge of addition and subtraction. We want the children to be fluent in their ability to calculate and to apply their knowledge when reasoning.

In computing, the children are currently working on animations that depict an aerial dogfight. Creating them is a slow process but here is what we have so far. Hope you enjoy them!
