Friday 28th September 2018

Hello,

We have had a super week in Year one.  We have been completing some assessments so have been very well behaved.  We had a class treat to celebrate our good behaviour.  Our certificate  winner this week goes to Ava Blu for her persistence and effort in sounding out CVC words. Ava has even been working on this at home... well done!

This week:

In Maths we have been using counters to find one more than a given number. We have also been trying to solve problems by spotting the mistake.

In English, we have been continuing our work on 'The Gruffalo.' We have been learning about adjectives - describing words - this week and have been thinking of lots of adjectives to describe the character of the Gruffalo.

In Science, we have been learning about different materials. We have looked at various objects and decided if they are made out of metal, plastic, wood or fabric.

In Topic, we have been learning about old and new toys.  We learnt that old toys were mainly made out of wood or metal and were handmade.  New toys are often made out of colourful plastics and can be powered by electricity..

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Lodge, Ms Rose and Mrs Mason.
