Friday 29th March

Friday 29th March

Welcome back to this week’s blog from Year 5F. It has been an exceptionally busy week as we prepare for next week’s Spring Assembly on Wednesday.

Maths – This week we have continued investigating fractions. The children have been adding and subtracting fractions. Thy began where the denominators (bottom number in the fraction) were the same. Then they moved onto fractions with differing denominator. This meant that they had to work out a common denominator for both and convert them.

This website explains adding and subtracting fractions and then allows you to have a try at answering some questions yourself…

English – This week the children have been finding out about mountain animals. They researched, using tablets, either the chinchilla, the red panda, the mountain lion (also known as the cougar), the snow leopard or mountain gorillas. They then used their research to plan a non-chronological report about their chosen animal.

The children have been working really hard creating Spring artwork which they will be showcasing in a presentation at the beginning of our assembly next week. They have also been working hard to rehearse their lines and practise their singing. All we can say is you are in for the most FANTASTIC treat next week.

Here is our certificate winner this week. She won for settling beautifully into Year 5F. We love having her in our class! smileyheartsmiley

Don't forget that the clocks will go forward an hour on Sunday. All that remains to say is have a great weekend and we will see you again on Monday.
