Well, how did you do? Did you get them? The first was `Apple Pie', then -`4 Wheel Drive', the third was `High School', and the last was `Hand in Hand'. If you got all 4 -well done!
So what have we been up to we hear you ask? Well, one of the many highlights of the week was our Year 4 Water Walk on Tuesday. Both classes walked from school to take a look at the River Douglas. As you may know, our topic for this half term has been Raging Rivers, and though on Tuesday the `Dougie' wasn't exactly raging we thought about how sometimes it can get pretty angry. You remember a few Christmas' ago when it burst its banks? We also took a look at the small ponds and the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Here's a few interesting facts.
1) The River Douglas rises (it's source) near Rivington.
2) It flows through countryside and through Wigan.
3) It joins the River Ribble just north of Tarleton.
4) Between Tarleton and the River Ribble it is known as the River Asland
And the Leeds Liverpool Canal?
1) It links the cities of Leeds and Liverpool.
2) It is of 127 miles long (204km).
3) It took 46 years to build.
4) It was built in the 1700s.
We spotted lots of wildlife. Here are some of the birds that we spotted. Do you know what they are? Answers are upside-down' at the bottom of the our blog.
In English and Maths, we have been having a great time making our own Maths games. We have tried to incorporate objectives that we have covered so far this year so when we play our games we are practising our Maths. Some have chosen to focus on times tables, others on decimals and fractions. We have really tried hard with these games and have created some eye-catching designs.
In English, we have thought about how to write a clear set of rules for our game. We had to ensure that our rules were easy to read and follow so they were helpful and effective. Take a look at our work below. Which game would you choose to play?
