Welcome to year 5W's first blog of the school year.
Maths- This week in maths we have been been looking at 2d shapes and 3d shapes. We have been distinguishing between regular and irregular shapes based on reasoning about equal sides and angles. Clever stuff indeed!
We have also started to look at 3d shapes, talking about the different properties that shapes have and what makes them different from one another.
English- This week in English we have thought about and discussed all the fun things we did over the summer holidays. We made a plan for a recount and then using this plan we independently wrote up our recount 'During the summer holidays'. We have also looked at what techniques we can use in our writing to improve it and how to use a thesaurus to change certain words to even better words. We have looked at how to use adjectives to help with description which will definitely help us in our writing over the year.
I hope year 5W have enjoyed their first week, I know I have!
