Friday 5th April

Friday 5th April

Welcome back to the final blog from Year 5F for the Spring term. As always, it has been an exceptionally busy week!

Maths – This week we have continued investigating fractions. They have been adding and subtracting mixed number with fractions. This is a very complex concept and the children have been incredible with their tenacity and determination to conquer this maths! It involved 4 steps…

  1. Convert the mixed number to an improper fraction
  2. Compare denominators and make them the same by using multiplication
  3. Add or subtract the fraction
  4. Convert the answer from an improper fraction into a mixed number!

Take a look at these examples of work from Megan and Jessica…

English – This week the children have been writing up their non-chronological reports about endangered mountain animals.

Topic – The children have produced some stunning 3-D mountain artwork using card in either hot or cold colours. Their work is going to be displayed in the Year 5 bay outside our classroom.

This week, the certificate was awarded to all of Year 5F for their stunning performance of our Spring Assembly. They made all of the teachers exceptionally proud!

Congratulations, also, to the winner of the EASTER EGG COMPETITION. She won with her fabulous ‘Vegetable Garden’ entry.

Here are all the EGGS-CELLENT entries from the children in Year 5F.

All that remains to say is have a great Easter break and we will see you again on Tuesday 23rd April.
