Friday 5th July

English

This week we have planned our own story inspired by The Canal. We boxed up our plans and then worked on some grammatical features we will include in our writing.

Maths

Year 3 have continued to work on their knowledge and skills of time this week. We have told the time to 5 minutes, 1 minute and have begun to look at time involving roman numerals.

Do you know what the below roman numerals mean?

I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII

Science

During Science we continued to delve deeper into the animal kingdom. After securing our knowledge of vertebrates and invertebrates last week we moved on to classifying vertebrates. We learnt that vertebrates can be split into 5 main classifications; mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and birds.

How many of each classification can you name?

French

Yum. What a fantastic French lesson we had this week. Mrs Wilson treated the children to a French food tasting experience.  The children had the opportunity to try some baguette, pain au chocolat, croissant and brioche. We all thoroughly enjoyed our French food. Thank you, Mrs Wilson!

P.E

In P.E this week we put a different twist on rounders. In order to focus on learning the rules of rounders we played a game of football rounders. We had a lot of fun and are beginning to understand how to play and enjoy rounders.

Well done to our pupil of the week Matthew. He is making small steps in the right direction.
