Friday 5th May 2017

Congratulations to Phoebe who won the achievement award this week for being an extra teacher in phonics while Mrs Grimes has been poorly! Well done Phoebe.

English

This week we have had our final week writing about thee Jolly Postman. We decided to retell the story using extended sentences and exclamation marks. Here are some examples; "The Jolly Postman went to the secret witch's lair and left his cup of green tea. He was terrified!"

"He sat on a block and drank a cup of tea."

"The wolf had sharp teeth and pointy ears."

"The Jolly Postman was invited to the party and they played his favourite game. Yay!"

Maths

This week we have been working on division. We have been using arrays to help us to solve division number sentences. For example, to find out 20 ÷ 5, we got 20 counters and shared them between 5 groups, then counted how many groups were left.

Science

In science this week we have been being Scientists to explore our five senses. We thought about each sense individually and described the popcorn using it. We found out that the sense which made us want to eat the popcorn the  most was the sense of smell!

Topic

We completed our emergency vehicle designs this week using a design criteria. We be using Purple Mash to create our vehicles then making them! We are really looking forward to it.

Have a lovely weekend, fingers crossed the weather stays nice!

Lots of love,

Miss Rose, Mrs Folksman and Mrs Grimes

Finally, have your say.  Each week you will have a chance to decide on which new song we will learn in next week's whole school assembly.  Click on the link below to take part in an online vote. (Note -this is carried from last week's choices.)
