Friday 6th September 2019

Welcome to Year 1W.

The children have settled in brilliantly this week.  I know there are a lot of changes, both for yourselves and for the children!

Each week we will update the blog.  We will include information, such as what your child has been learning in different subjects, trip reminders and other information, so please check back to see what's new!

This terms topic in Year One is 'All About Me.'  We will be learning about ourselves, our local area and things that have happened within our lifetimes.

In English this week, we have been learning how to sound out words and form letters.

In Maths, we have been counting up to 10.  We have been learning how to count accurately and move counters or cross out pictures to be sure we have counted correctly.

In Science, we have been naming different common materials.  We have been grouping materials into plastic, wood and metal.

In topic, we have been drawing self portraits.  We have been thinking about what colours our hair and eyes are to make sure everyone knows which one is us!!

Well done to all the children who are bringing their reading bags and books in daily.  They have been collecting up lots of stickers this week.

Enjoy the weekend.

Miss Lodge and Mrs Duckworth.
