Hello and welcome to the 5W’s blog.
Maths
We began the week where we finished last week, with bus stop division of 4digit numbers. We also revisited multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000.
English
It was back to pretending to be a Viking again. After watching a short clip of a Viking raid on Lindisfarne we drafted our diary entries, edited and wrote the final copies.
We then went on to look at some good examples of setting descriptions. In particular, we looked at an ‘Imagine 3’ sentence. For example: - Imagine a place where the sun always shines, where everyone lives in peace, where no-one feels alone: the island of Serenity is such a place! We were given some pictures as a stimulus and we had to write ‘Imagine 3’ sentences. This was in preparation for us to write a setting description.
Science
In science we looked at the life cycle of humans. The stages began with the foetus and ended with the elderly; with infants, adolescents and adults sandwiched in the middle.
Christmas Bake Off
All week, Mrs Cosgrove took each of us out in turn to help make our class cake for the Christmas bake off. Some of us mixed and baked the cake, others helped ice it and the rest made decorations for it.
Take a look at the pictures!
Pupil of the week is …… Luke for taking control of his own reading and reading every night this week. KEEP IT UP LUKE!
Remember we’re on the two week countdown to the Christmas holidays. It’s getting very exciting! Have a great weekend!
