Friday 7th October 2016

Well here we are again after another wonderful week in school.

It's not just the weather that has been fantastic so have the children!

Congratulations go to Logan this week in recognition of all the extra work he has been doing at home to help him with his learning - and he wasn't even asked to do it!! Your trophy was well deserved, Logan. Keep it up!

We have been developing our vocabulary this week paying particular attention to adjectives, nouns and proper nouns. Y4W can now confidently explain what each of these are and why we use them - just ask them!

We have been listening to and reading poetry this week too and have just started learning a couple of poems linked to Carl Warner's 'Foodscapes'. Next week, we will be performing them in our groups to the rest of the class and hopefully to YWF too! Fingers crossed we don't get nervous...

In Maths, we have enjoyed working on estimating by rounding and column addition. We started the week on 2 digit numbers and ended the week on 4 digit numbers - phew!

In Topic, we have just started to create our own Egyptian masks using balloons and brown sticky tape. We have worked in pairs and had soooo much fun. Can you tell?

Now we have to wait for them to dry before we can add the adornment and decoration. Watch this space...

In Science, we have continued to investigate States of Matter and have been melting chocolate. We had to be very sensible while we used the equipment as we watched it change from a solid to a liquid. It was hard to resist the temptation to eat it - especially for Miss Whittle!!!
