Friday 8th October

Friday 8th October 2021

Welcome to Y6F’s blog for this week. It has been a busy week with lots of outstanding work in class.

English – We have continued to read our class novel, Hetty Feather, by Jacqueline Wilson. The children are really enjoying learning about life in Victorian times.

As well as this, the children have been investigating the features of persuasive letter writing. This has built up to them writing a persuasive letter of their own to Mr Sherriff.

Maths – At the beginning of the week, we continued working on long multiplication (4-digit by 2-digit) After that, we have recapped division using the bus stop method when dividing by a 1-digit number. Then, we moved on to long division using partial tables (or partial quotients) to help. Click on the link to this website and it will help to explain this method to you at home…

Science – Our topic this half term has been all about LIGHT. In this week’s lesson, the children have been investigating how light is reflected. As well as this, they have learned how a rainbow is made. This short video explains further…

Here is our certificate winner this week. He won for his wonderful attitude towards school. He smiles, he works hard and gives everything his best effort! What a super start to Year 6! Keep it up!

All that remains to say is we hope you have a great weekend. Fingers crossed the dry weather continues!
