Hello and welcome back to 5W’s blog.
Maths
Improper fractions and mixed numbers was the name of the game this week. Improper fractions are where the top number (numerator) is the same or larger than the bottom number (denominator). Mixed numbers are where whole numbers and fractions are together.

Using the problem that the Iron Man encountered, falling off a cliff, our job was to think of a similar problem for our own Iron Giant; for example falling from a bridge, a derelict factory, a mountain. Following that, we thought about the different settings that would surround these places. We included what the weather/ atmosphere was like; then wrote an opening to our own stories.
Science
This week we started our new science topic ‘FORCES’.
A force is a pull or push upon an object resulting from the object’s interaction with another object. Whenever there is an interaction between two objects, there is a force upon each object. When the interaction ceases, the objects no longer experience force. Forces only exist as a result of an interaction.
Pupil of the week is Carly for displaying such a sensible, mature attitude and really standing out the last couple of weeks! You truly are ready or Year 6!! A great role model.
Hope you all have a great weekend. Don’t forget to treat you know who on Sunday!
This saying refers to the weather. March starting with awful wintry weather but ending with lovely spring sunshine (fingers crossed).
