Welcome back to our second Autumn term and the run up to CHRISTMAS!!! This term, our topic will be Hot and Cold. As part of this topic we will be looking at a world map and identifying hot and cold areas of the world, as well as looking at seasonal changes in our weather patterns in this country. Our role play area is a Travel Agents.
A big well done to Noah, who got our certificate this week for simply being the kind and helpful young man that he is. A future gentleman in the making.
Also well done to everyone for their attendance this week. This is the second week running now that we have had the highest attendance!
In English this week, we have been reading Julia Donaldson's 'The Snail and the Whale.' In this story, the snail takes a journey to hot and cold places on the whales tale. This week we have been using adjectives and similes to describe the hot and cold places they visit.
In Maths, we have been learning our number bonds within 10. We have been using counters to calculate all of the possible number bonds. We have written addition number sentences using the add and equals sign.
In Science, we learned about the four seasons; Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. We looked at what the weather is like in each season and talked about our favourite seasons.
In topic, we looked at a world map. We used the compass points North, South, East and West. We learnt where the North and South Poles were and also found the equator. We now know that the North and South poles are the coldest places and the places near the Equator are the hot places.
Please keep up the reading at home. There are gold cards to be won for those pupils reading every night at home!
Enjoy your weekend,
Miss Lodge.
