wc 11th January

Welcome back to our blog.

We hope everyone had a lovely Christmas break and has an enjoyable 2019!

In English this week, we have been looking at the story of 'Hansel and Gretel'. We have looked at the cottage made of sweets and have been using adjectives to describe it. We looked at different ways to start our sentences and used these to write a description of the cottage.

In maths we have started to work on multiplication. We have learnt to recognise equal groups and can now draw our own groups and write a repeated addition and multiplication sentence to match the groups. For example;

In Science, we have been learning about microhabitats. We found out that a microhabitat is a small part of a larger habitat, under a stone for example. Then we investigated microhabitats in our school grounds. We found lots of different minibeasts such as beetles, worms and spiders.

What microhabitats do you have around your home? Can you find any different animals living there?

Have a lovely weekend,

Love from,

Mrs Hannon, Mrs Turton, Miss Grimshaw
