wc 1st October

In English we are reading the story 'Zog'. It's about a dragon who tries really hard each year in dragon school because he wants to get a golden star. We have decided to write our own story based on Zog and we have chosen our own animal for our story, given it a name and thought about what the animal would learn each year. We will finish writing our own version next week.

In Maths we have been learning about place value. This week we have been solving some problems using partitioning (splitting numbers into tens and ones) and comparing numbers using the greater than and less than symbols.

In our 'Wonderful Wigan' topic, we have continued to study Wigan artist Theodore Major. We have been practising using charcoal to create some of the effects he used in his paintings.

In Science we are learning about animals including humans, and we have been busy planning a fair investigation to find out if you get faster as you grow. We raced against some year 5 children to see who was the fastest.

That's all for this week, see you again next week

love
