Welcome back to our class blog.

This week in English we have all had a look at a practice Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG) SATs paper. We all had a go at completing this paper.

In Maths, we have been recapping 3 step addition and subtraction word problems. We need to make sure we read the problem carefully to pick out the correct information for our number sentence. Some children have also had a go of a practice maths arithmetic paper.

This week in Science, we have been learning about what living things need to survive. We can use ‘MRS NERG’ to help us to remember what living things need.
Movement - Animals move around and plants move towards the light
Respiration - Plants and animals use oxygen
Sensitivity - Plants and animals can detect changes in their surroundings
Nutrition - Animals eat food for energy and green plants make their own food using the sunlight
Excretion - Plants and animals have to get rid of waste
Reproduction - Animals have young and plants produce seeds from which new plants grow
Growth - Animals and plants both grow

We have also been learning about which animals are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. We know that herbivores are animals that only eat plants. Carnivores are animals that eat meat. Omnivores are animals that eat both meat and plants.

On Wednesday we went to visit the book bus which was on the playground. We really enjoyed looking at all the different books.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the SATs information evening.

That’s all for this week. Enjoy your bank holiday weekend! Don’t forget we aren’t in school on Monday.

Love from Mrs Hannon, Mrs Turton, Miss Grimshaw
