Week 1

Welcome Back!

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break.

Maisey won the achievement award this week for being a superstar, always trying her best in everything she does. Keep it up Maisey!

This week has been another busy week!

In maths we have been learning about time, we have focused upon days of the week and months of the year and learnt two fantastic songs!

Please help us to continue learning by reinforcing the order of the days of the week at home.

In English we have began to look at a new story called The Way Back Home. We really liked this story! We have had a go of acting out the story this week using finger puppets as well as sequencing the story and thinking about how the boy in the story would be feeling at different times in the book. Alfie came up with an INCREDIBLE sentence to explain how the boy could be feeling! He said, "I feel frightened because it is really dark and I can hear scary noises." WOW! Well done Alfie.

There is a powerpoint below which tells the story, if you wish to read it.

We have began a new topic this week called, To Infinity and Beyond! We are really excited to be learning about space, especially after our alien week earlier in the year! Today we have used the computers or tablets to find out some information about space travel. What can you remember? We will continue to explore this further!

This week we have started giving raffle tickets as a reward for things like; being polite, being kind, doing good thinking and trying our best. At the end of each day we draw out two raffle tickets and winners can choose a token from the treasure box. We can choose to; bring a teddy to school, take a certificate or smelly sticker home, bring a teddy from home to visit for the day, wear a cap in the classroom all day... and so on. If your child wins a token it will be sent home (except for smelly sticker and certificate tokens, as they receive these straight away) to bring back into school on the day they wish to redeem their reward.

Next week I will send home a your child's personalised targets for this term, along with a pack of resources to help your child achieve these targets. We really value all additional work that goes on at home and we cannot express how much impact this has on your child's education. So we'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

Have a lovely weekend and get lots of sleep!

See you on Monday!

Lots of love,

Miss Rose, Mrs Stirrup and Mrs Duckworth
