Week 3

Hello again!

e

We have had another fun filled, learning loaded, busy bee kind of weeks again in pre-school learning about FIREFIGHTERS!

We began the week learning about a firefighter named Charlie in the story 'Charlie the firefighter'.  Charlie is a female firefighter.  We thought about words to describe Charlie.

  • strong
  • brave
  • careful
  • helpful
  • kind

Then we thought about all of the equipment that firefighters have

  • helmets
  • jackets
  • boots
  • pants
  • hoses
  • water cannons
  • fire engine
  • ladders

and we changed our post office into a fire engine with dressing up costumes and a ladder!  However, it has been so cold this week we haven't had much of an opportunity to play out in the fire engine so Mrs Rothwell said she will not change it next week then we get a chance to play there.

Paul from Skillswise sports was also back in school on Monday to teach us about jumping and throwing.  We had lots of fun and blew him away with our fantastic listening skills.  He could not believe how much we had remembered from last week and how we were able to change stations seamlessly!  Well done everyone!

We also welcomed another child into the number 4 club!

Happy birthday

We have also been practising our gross motor skills in the outdoor area (thanks Paul!) and our fine motor skills in the indoor provision
We began a new activity this week.  This has been proven to improve children's communication and thinking skills based on child led learning.  It is called 'Floorbooks'.  Mrs Baggaley and Mrs Littler intorduced the 'mystery' box and the children explored the items inside.  They have come up with many lines of thinking from the items in the box and the thread we will be looking at next week is 'Why do builders wear hard hats?'
We also had our first session of Parents In Partnership (PIP) on Wednesday after school.  We are focussing on memory skills and turn taking in our sessions this half term.
We have two spaces still available if you would like to join in the fun!  It will be every Wednesday after school 3.30-4.15 until half term.  You will receive a free board game after every session and the chance to win a bundle of games at the last session of the term!

What a busy week we have had!

See you next week
