Week 6

It has been our final week of our traditional tales topic before a very well earned half term. This week our text of the week has been the Gingerbread Man.

In the funky fingers area this week we having been using hammers and nails to make our very own Gingerbread Men.

Our second challenge of the week for the children in the funky fingers area was to design their own Gingerbread Man using tweezers to pick up the eyes, buttons and nose.

We have continued to develop our number skills by adding and subtracting two single digit numbers. We have been doing lots of practical activities with Gingerbread Men to develop our understanding and have been recording our answers by writing a number sentence.

On Tuesday the children made their own Gingerbread Men bird 🦅 feeders using bread, peanut 🥜 butter and seeds. The children then went to the ALPS to hang up the Gingerbread Men for the birds 🦅.

The children’s reading challenge was to order the pictures from the story on the washing line. This has developed the children’s knowledge of structure and re telling skills.

We hope you all have a wonderful half term, take care and have lots of fun. We are excited to come back to school to start our Superhero’s topic.
