week ending 10th June 2022

Good Afternoon and a warm welcome back to our class blog. This week has been a shorter week but we have packed in so much learning. We are continuing with our themes and texts linked to Julia Donaldson and this week we have been using the text Superworm. Why not have a little watch of it on You Tube. He really is a super talented worm! Let's have a little peek at this weeks action smiley

We have been developing and working on our independence when writing. We are encouraging the children to think about the sounds they can hear in words and to write them. We are making some really good progress with our writing and we would encourage you to continue practising at home smiley

After listening to the story a couple of times and each time focusing on something different for example the characters, setting, events in the story we used all of the information to help us to create a story map. The children love doing this and it really does help them to organise their thoughts about what happened in a story. Choose a favourite book at home and have a little go.

And as we are learning about Superworm we of course made our very own wormery. We talked about the instructions, followed them and kindly a friend from nursery found us two lovely worms. We can't wait to follow them and look at the tunnels they burrow. Did you know there are over 60 different types of worms living in the UK? We did!

Also, did you know that worms do not have a skeleton but they do have lots of different muscles? Amazing. The children loved discovering all of these new and exciting facts. Here we are making our wormery smiley

Next week we will be back using the lovely text Monkey Puzzle. Have a little read ready for Monday. Have a great weekend.
