week ending 10th March 2023

Hello and welcome back to this weeks class blog. This week we have been using the lovely text A fruit is a suitcase for a seed. It has taught the children the importance of what is on the inside and how we need to protect and look after ourselves. Definitely worth a little look at on You Tube smiley

We started the week off with some lovely invitations to come and play. We set up the classroom with lots of independent opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and language linked to plants and animals. Take a little look

This week in Maths we have been learning all about length. We have been thinking about some of the vocab such as long, short, longer than and shorter than and taking part in lots of activities that has exposed us to all this new language smiley

We have also been learning about the importance of planning and designing before we build. We have been creating different structures using different materials this week in our creative area and creating a design before we start to construct. This has helped us to think carefully about our intentions and how best to execute it. Great work everyone yes

We have also created some lovely drawings about flowers and spent lots of time creating labels for the different parts. We now know how to find the leaves, petals and stem and how to create a label for them using the work we are doing in Read Write Inc smiley

Each week we add to our sticky learning book in class - ask your child about it I am sure they will be able to go into great detail about what and how we use it to help us with our learning. This is just one of the pages we created last Friday to show the results of a weeks worth of hard work and learning. Our sticky learning book is something that we are very proud of and love to show it off to visitors smiley

Next week we will be using the text The Growing Story. A lovely story about a little boy who knows about plants and animals growing but he feels like he isn't growing until he tries on some old clothes and finds they no longer fit. I will add the link to the page if you would like to look together over the weekend. Also, as per the Weduc message it would be lovely if you could send your child into school with just 1 photograph of them as a baby for our learning about Growth and how we change over the years.
