week ending 13th November 2020

We hope that you have had a lovely, restful weekend.  This week we will be using the story Room on a Broom to help us with our learning. Let's take a little peep at what we have been doing this week.
As with every text we use in class, we have been thinking about the characters from the story and what they say. This week we have been looking carefully at letter sounds and trying our hardest to write them down. The children's writing is improving all of the time. Keep up with the practise at home.
We studied the text and found lots of these words included in the story. We all had a turn at using our Fred Talk to read and say the words. It's so encouraging to see the children applying their skills and knowledge. We need you to continue to practise your green words at home as very soon we will be sending some new ones to try.
This week we have also been thinking about Remembrance Sunday. We talked about the significance of the poppy and we created our own poppies to wear in class. We observed the 2 minute silence and create a lovely poppy frame to home our class photograph.
This week we have bene learning about the number 5. We have been thinking about 5 in terms of money, time and quantity. Remember, I would love to see any of the activities you do at home linked to number of the week. Here are just a couple of ideas .....

Have a wonderful weekend and next week we will be using the text The Snail and the Whale. A story about a tiny snail who travelled the world on the back of a whale.  Why not have a little look at it on You Tube.

Have a great weekend and thank you for all of your support with home reading and Read Write Inc. Keep up the good work. We are really making a difference smiley
