week ending 14th October 2022

Hello and welcome to our blog. What a busy half term we have had and the learning has been fun and plentiful this week. let's have a little look at what we have been up to in Reception smiley

At the start of the week we set up some lovely invitations to come and play. The children have loved exploring, story telling and sharing time with their friends. We have given them lots of opportunities to develop their speaking and listening skills, reading and personal, social and emotional skills through the power of play. Amazing yes

Another skills we continue to develop and practice this week is our Story Mapping skills. We draw, write and tell the story using pictures and text. Each and every week using ou new text of the week we focus on talking in detail about stories. What happens first, in the middle, at the end? what do the characters do or say. Have a little look at this weeks story map linked to the text of the Week A New Home for a Pirate.

We have also been exploring the number 6 on our Maths Magic Carpet. Haver the children mentioned this to you? Each and every Monday we focus on a new number and the children have access to lots of different numbers and they have to decide whether it can go on the magic carpet because it is linked to the number or not as it has nothing to do with it. Each week we develop our maths language and reasoning skills and it is great fun smiley

We have also been writing about the types of things a pirate would need to pack into his treasure chest if he/she was about to embark on a journey or adventure. Have a little look at some of our ideas.

And finally, we wanted to share with you something we are really proud of. Our Sticky  learning book. This holds all of our ideas and knowledge about all of the texts of the week we have been learning about. It's fabulous smiley

Next week we will be learning all about Autumn. We will be sending your child home with a bag to collect Autumnal bits and pieces if you are out and about this weekend. If they come back to school on Monday we can share them with our friends.

Have a great weekend
