Week ending 15th October 2021

Welcome back to our class blog. This week we have been super busy in class. We have been using the text A new Home for a Pirate as the focus for our learning. This wonderful story is all about Pirate Jed who wants to change his house from a ship to one on a hill. I will add the link at the end of the blog if you would like to watch it together smiley

This week we have been busy categorising objects - sorting them in different ways. It is always lovely to see the children working co-operatively demonstrating a skill we have been learning about in class  smiley

We have also been exploring some of the new language and vocab that we discovered in our text of the week. Did you know there lots of different ways to find out the meaning of words? This week we explored dictionaries yes

Here we are with our dictionaries. This activity provided us with lots of opportunities to learn new words and find out their meaning. We are real little book worms.

In Maths we have been thinking about numbers and language linked to size. We have discovered language such as tall, short, taller than and shorter than and we can use it in the right context. We have played lots of games that needed us to identify numbers and spots on a dice and to them count out the right number of blocks. We then used lots of different ways to measure who had the tallest tower. Amazing work

We also continue to add weekly to out sticky learning book. This is where we add pictures, our ideas, drawings and anything else we want to use to help us to recall and remember what we have ben learning about.  The children love to look back on past work and is great for helping us to develop our memory skills smiley

Finally, here is the link for this weeks story should you like to listen to it together.
