week ending 19.1.18

Welcome back to our blog. This week we have been really busy in class. We have been using the text Jack and the Beanstalk as the focus for our learning. We started the week off by thinking about the story and the characters - who are they, what were they like and what kind of things did they say in the story. We have been learning about speech bubbles and what they mean when we see them in a story.
We have been developing our scissor and cutting skills too! We used spiral shapes and followed the line to create mini beanstalks. These are now on display in our classroom and look amazing.
We have also been using numbers to create a beanstalk. We have been talking about numbers that are one more and one less than a given number as well as learning about the sequence of numbers from 0 - 20.
We have also been sequencing the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We have been talking about what happened at the beginning, the middle and the end of the story and putting these captions into the right order.
As we are learning about Jack and the Beanstalk we had some children return their learning challenges. Jameel made a huge effort with his. Well done no
We continue to work on our physical skills with Coach Scott. The children really look forward to PE and this week we have been focusing on jumping, bending and landing using apparatus. Take a look at us in action
We hope that you have a lovely weekend. Staff and children in Reception W
