week ending 1st March 2019

Hello and welcome back to our class blog. We hope that you all had a lovely restful week off and that we are ready and raring to learn. So this half term out topic is Superheroes. We are going to be looking at lots of different areas of learning and thinking about developing our skills in a range of different ways.
So as you may have noticed in class, we have changed many of our areas to help keep the children motivated, engaged and busy learning. One of our new areas is our Loose Parts display. This week we have had some really interesting images created using many different kinds of objects. Take a look at some of our creations.
We have also been developing our writing skills as we think about the different super powers that we would like to have. Wow what an interesting set of ideas we came up with. Love it!
We have also been undertaking our challenges as well this week. Here we are building towers taller and shorter than Superheroes. Great for developing our mathematical language no
We have also explored tools and techniques in order to free the frozen superheroes. A great way of showing the children's critical thinking skills and teaching them how to use tools safely. We had so much fun and used so many new and interesting words that we have displayed them on our word wall
We also created superhero capes using lots of different materials and wore these to help us through our challenges when Mrs Houghton came to visit us in class on Tuesday. We think she was very impressed with what she saw.
We have also been exploring our new construction material. We have had such a lot of fun with this and made so many interesting models. We found the perfect use for it when creating Superhero vehicles. We made them fly, spin, twirl you name it. What a creative bunch we are!
Next week we are going to be using the text Supertato as the focus for our learning. Remember every Monday we change our loan library books and that reading books are also changed today. PE is every Friday and it is really important that children have their kit in school. We hope that you have a wonderful weekend. See you all on Monday smiley
